French Antique mantle clock gilt bronze & boulle clock circa 1860 working

This is a stunning and unusual Rococo boudoir table clock of Vernis Martin lacquer work mounted with ormolu (finely gilded brass). It is decorated with delicate floral swags below the dial is a beautifully painted scene of a young couple in a country landscape. The lacquer has a lovely antique craquelure and the ormolu is clean and bright mantle clock.

This is a fantastic medium size mantle clock dating from the mid 1800's very nice case scrolling balloon case. The clock has wonderful scrolling feet with matching applied decoration to the base and top all finished off with the carved flower finial cap. Dial is shaped porcelain with Roman numerals and black Fancy metal hands. The movement is accessed at the rear via a hinged wooden door, the movement is a good quality French 8 day striking movement, fully working comes with a pendulum and key

The French movement is by Samuel Marti and has the clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate. This clock has a 8 day duration and strikes the hours and halves on a sonorous coiled gong.
